Rubicon and Meeks Bay
Down the west shore towards South Lake, before Emerald Bay, you will come into Meeks Bay and then Rubicon Bay about 20 minutes south of Tahoe City. Both such stunning bays, with sandy beaches and light blue waters. The closest actual grocery store is in Tahoe City, with a general store in Tahoma, and as the amenities decrease, so do the feelings of “old Tahoe” and adventure increase.
Here you will find a true place to escape from the world, and is a wonderful recluse in the Summer. Stock up on groceries, drive down to your Rubicon home, and bask in the sunshine with your toes in the sand!
This section of Lake Tahoe is for the Summer homeowner. Still accessible in the winter, and actually just 10 minutes or so to Homewood Ski Resort, this section of Lake Tahoe is absolutely breath-taking in the Summer, and is home to some of the oldest estates on Lake Tahoe, such as the Hellman-Erhman Mansion in Sugar Pine State Park and Vikingsholm in Emerald Bay.
