Squaw Valley
Squaw Valley, home of the 1960’s Olympics and destination for avid skiers throughout the country, was voted #1 Ski Resort in North America for the last two years. This neighborhood is home to an affluent mix of residents and visitors, all drawn to the proximity of the world-class skiing, and amenities provided in the Village of Squaw Valley. Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows have advanced ski teams and development programs for young aspiring skiers.
Home to a beautiful neighborhood of properties, and numerous condominium complexes, there’s a home for everyone in Squaw Valley. With both secluded properties and ski in ski out properties nestled in the Village, Squaw Valley properties offer homeowners and visitors alike a trifecta of access to all of what Lake Tahoe has to offer: proximity to skiing, just a few miles off Highway 80 from the Bay Area and Truckee, as well as just minutes to the Lake itself.
A wonderful bike and pedestrian path runs along the Truckee River between Squaw Valley and Tahoe City, and is a stunning way to explore the area. Bikes can be rented in the Village. Note in fall and spring that temperatures are colder along the River, and an extra layer of clothing are advised. There is a bike and pedestrian path through the entire Valley as well, which runs from the base of Squaw Valley road, behind the soccer field, up to the Resort at Squaw Creek, and wraps around the meadow along Squaw Valley Road into the Village of Squaw Valley. This is a wonderful way to get into the Village in the Summer months.
During the Summer Squaw Valley offers numerous festivals, weekly music events, and hiking into the mountain. It is usually a little quieter in the Valley than in the neighborhoods of Lake Tahoe itself, and as a result is a wonderful place to own for those that are avid skiers, prefer a central Village and amenities/restaurants to visit, but prefer something a little quieter in the Summer months, than a property in and around Lake Tahoe specifically. It is wonderful to bike to the Lake along the River, enjoy all that Lake Tahoe has to offer, and then return to the solitude of Squaw Valley at the end of the day.
Properties located in Squaw Valley, as with any other resort-neighborhood tend to be priced slightly higher per square foot, for the added amenities the property is adjacent to.
