Contrary to what you may think, the skiing is actually really good up here right now!
I skied last Saturday, and now here I am Friday Dec 8, and if anything, it’s gotten even better! Coverage hasn’t really changed in a week, with how cold its been, and the snow keeps getting lighter and less moist as the cold temps and dry air clear it up.
Today I skied a lot of Shirley, and two laps on Siberia. Unfortunately they aren’t grooming the top of Siberia, so you have to either pick your way down the shady bumps, or traverse a little farther and get lucky every turn or so, with a few ice turns in there. I haven’t skied North Bowl yet, but people said it was great last Saturday. Today someone said there was a fat sheet of ice. It has been windy, so that make sense. Last Saturday Siberia was amazing.
Shirley today-the groomers were insane, awesome corduroy. We did quite a few laps, a few on Run#1, then #5 for a few, and some 4’s and 3’s to finish the math out.
Then we hit the bowl, and it was amazing. Like chalk. I couldn’t get enough of it. You definitely have to dig in and put those legs and skis to work, but what phenomenal conditions! With the sun shining, and clean crisp air, today couldn’t get any better!
Pro spottings- Jeremy Jones and Johnny Moseley were out and about with some friends. Always good to see some familiar faces also enjoying our beautiful conditions!
