If you’ve been to Tahoe even once, chances are you’ve been to the Tahoma Market
(aka “The PDQ”) on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and have enjoyed their amazing sandwiches. If you’re a resident or homeowner at Tahoe, especially if you live anywhere Homewood south to Rubicon, you’ve relied on the PDQ for your last-minute grocery items, and again, you used to eat a sandwich at least once a week. Everyone knows the PDQ, and the closure of the market in 2018 really hit us all hard; it’s been a constant neighborhood conversation as to “When is the PDQ going to re-open??”
Wait and wonder no more. The Tahoma market is reopening, September 2020! I biked past it the other day, and saw the announcement. They are hiring, and getting ready!
The concept will be a rustic-chic market with a wine area, fresh produce, general market needs, and most importantly the same infamous sandwiches they used to make! I saw bread-ovens with my own eyes! They will have a grab-and-go cold case, you will be able order sandwiches to go, or of course, stand in line and order, like the good old days.
In the evenings, the market will be serving pizzas.
This market will offer a much-needed convenience for groceries, lunch and dinner options on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. As of now, the closest market is Obexer’s Marina, and then the West Shore market, before you’re finally in Tahoe City for regular grocery stores. I am whole-heartedly looking forward to the grand re-opening party and am very thankful to hear its forthcoming in our near future!
