Lake Tahoe received almost two feet of snow in the past 24 hours, and the skiing was
unbelievable. The ski resorts are, in my opinion, not even reporting the total! I swear there was a foot yesterday, and there was definitely a foot, if not more, today. Unbelievable.
Thursday was a freezing, sleeting, snowy day, but Friday opened up into an unbelievable sunrise over the Lake, with heavenly light hitting the crystalline light powdered snow elegantly coating everything around.
By 8:00 am on Friday, the parking lot was already filling up at Squaw, and the line
at the Funitel was amassing. At 9:00 am sharp, the Funitel doors opened, and we started piling in,
like sardines. Heading up the mountain in the Funi, the snow looked phenomenal. It was like white pillows of fluff. And no joke, it was like that, ALL DAY LONG. The snow was so light, even the tracked-out goods were GREAT. And for some reason, even though there were plenty of people, I got untracked lines every run down, and was lapping Siberia, getting about 10-min laps in! Absolutely unreal. What a day! One for the books, for sure.
